Hi Jeff, it looks like we can't do a straight search-and-replace here. Even in the first few diffs I see places where if 10.1 is changed to 10.2, the text may no longer be correct. In some cases, the functionality in question is still under development for 10.2. I think we should revisit this issue at a later date.

The edits in the _v2 patch all look good to me. +1 to commit.
conref references are just URLs. Since the reference is replaced at build time with the content of the referred-to URL, it is safe to use a relative path for the URL.
This means that we could remove the various *conref.dita and keep one file for these, perhaps at the src level. References to this file would look like <ph conref="../conrefs.dita#topic"></ph> in the DITA source.
That's outside the scope of this issue, but it seems like a good idea, so I'll file a separate JIRA issue for it.

I would say this is a definite must-fix for 10.2. The docs need to say they are the correct version. A simple search-and-replace will not work, as noted earlier in the issue. Whoever actually takes this on will need to consider each instance of '10.1' individually.

Attaching patch derby-936_v02.diff and corresponding html output for all the documents, htmloutput.tar.gz. The patch makes the following changes:
1) Parameterizes most of the version references so that, in the future, we will only have to update the parameter declarations in the *conrefs files.
2) Hard-codes a 10.2 in the soft upgrade description in the Developer's Guide. This is because this page lists various catalog-changing features and the releases which introduced them. I'm punting on this one and leaving this as a reference which we'll have to think about for the next feature release.
3) Creates a parameter declaration file for the Working with Derby Guide so that version numbers can be substituted in that guide too.

I don't know the answer to Dan's question. Hopefully the tech writers can field this one.
It would be appealing if the documents shared a common file of parameters. Again, maybe the tech writers can help us understand why each document has its own file of parameters and why common parameters are duplicated across these files.
