Important change to 4.0.1 Release Notes -- may impact translations
I just noticed that the release notes did not have a link to the
download page. You might think that the typical path is:
1) user visits ww.openoffice.org
2) user clicks download link
3) from download page user clicks on release notes
But there are also other common paths, including 3rd party articles
and blogs, tweets, that link directly to the release notes, and might
not even mention the download page.
So I've added two links to the download page in the first paragraph of
the release notes. If you have started a translation please try to
include something similar.
Thanks!

The link to test with is still the same, i.e.,
http://www.openoffice.org/download/
This should now display the green "download" area for you too.
Please give feedback here:

I'm not sure. If I use
http://www.openoffice.org/pt/
I'm send to the cover page, so to speak, of the old pt-PT site but the
rest is in English. If I use the one Rob send
http://www.openoffice.org/pt-test/
it looks just the same. Using
http://www.openoffice.org/pt-PT/ <http://www.openoffice.org/pt/>
doesn't work either. Maybe I'm using the wrong links?

Pedro.

No, actually I don't.

@Pedro:
I think I've fixed the issue. For me it's working but please test again
on your side.

Nothing like that, obviously. I'll copy the information but I don't know
where to get Marcus mail to CC him. Is there a list somewhere? If not
you'll have to re-direct to him.
I'll open an issue in Bugzilla also.

Pedro.

Then we have some bugs again. You should see something like
http://imagebin.org/272182
I'm adding Marcus, who wrote that code, to CC since I'm not sure he
follows the l10n list.

These I'll translate after lunch. I had, so far, no link to them. I'll
post a link here when done and a comment at the cwiki. Thank you for the
link.

OK, I'll remove both links I added and keep this one:
http://www.openoffice.org/download/
When Rob tells me to use the pt site then I should change it to:
http://www.openoffice.org/pt-test/download/
without the "-test", of course. Is that it?

What I mean is clicking
http://www.openoffice.org/download/
takes us to a page where the download "button" is not clear, at least
not for me.
Take a look at what I get:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zif9huv9xhw2xo1/download_page_snapshot.png
There are lots of options and links but none of them seems an obvious
choice to me. Maybe there should be something like this
https://www.dropbox.com/s/72j287zkhkd8b7p/download_button.png
really big and obvious, probably linking to the corresponding native
download file.

Are you translating the Release Notes for 4.0
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.0+Release+Notes
or for 4.0.1 (much, much shorter)
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.0.1+Release+Notes
?
You will want to translate both but the one Rob was talking about is the
4.0.1 page.

The download link is
http://www.openoffice.org/download/
and that should be the only one appearing in the Release Notes.
Alternatively, you can provided a dedicated link if you have an updated
download page (but this is not currently the case) at
http://www.openoffice.org/pt/
I don't understand the "points to nothing" sentence. You should see the
download button, even though it is for version 4.0 and not 4.0.1.

Andrea.

Hi Rob,
as you know I'm translating the release notes, I checked and both URL's
(future Portuguese and English) are equal. On both I see only one link
to the official download page (http://www.openoffice.org/download/
<http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html>). I think there is
something missing here. Both Extensions and Templates links work but the
first one points to nothing.
I will add http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html#aoo as the
official page, and
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/?source=directory-featured
as an alternative download page if you agree. If not let me know or
change them for whatever is more correct.
I hope to have the translation complete by today late in the afternoon.
Of the previous release notes, I didn't get any new ones so far.
Regards,
Pedro.

It's a wonder we didn't think of this before.
As before, I will probably render an html version to put on the web server
in case we need it. Probably Sunday night.
