[jira] Created: (MNG-3049) settings.xml needs a tag for the http.auth.preference parameter

settings.xml needs a tag for the http.auth.preference parameter
---------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: MNG-3049
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-3049
             Project: Maven 2
          Issue Type: Improvement
    Affects Versions: 2.0.6
            Reporter: Mathias Arens
            Priority: Minor

If you run maven on solaris with a proxy that has NTLM configured as the standard authorisation you cannot set the authentication scheme to basic in the settings.xml. You have to pass this parameter over the command line 'mvn -Dhttp.auth.preference=basic install'. But this option essential because it is not easy to get NTLM authentication running on solaris.

Maybe further http.auth parameters should be added to the settings.xml. Here is a list of the java parameters:

Brett Porter updated MNG-3049:
------------------------------

Fix Version/s: (was: Reviewed Pending Version Assignment)
                   2.1.x
      Component/s: Settings

passing through properties to wagon would be a better way to make this more extensible.
