Invoking portlet actions velocity

Hi there
I'm trying to invoke an actions in my velocity page, but the only way
that I know that works is using a submit button on a form. Where the
submit name is something like
eventSubmit_myAction.... Can't I put a direct link to the actions? , i
need it not to be a submit button or at least to don't look like it
