We used LibreOffice-Writer 1:4.2.3 to open, fill out, and save, several .doc
forms with checkboxes.  We experienced no problems in using LibreOffice to open
these documents, fill them out, save them, print them, re-open them, or re-save
them.

This week we switched to OpenOffice 4.1.0.  

If we open one of the ORIGINAL blank .doc forms in OpenOffice, the checkboxes
are there and there is no problem in checking them, saving the document,
printing, reopening, editing, etc ...

HOWEVER ... if we open a .doc form which was already completed using
LibreOffice, the checkboxes are no longer there in OpenOffice.

I know there are other ".doc checkbox" posts from a couple years back, and If I
missed something and this is a duplicate, I apologize.  However, I can't find
one where the ONLY issue with checkboxes is whether the document was opened and
re-saved using LibreOffice.

Thank you for your response Ariel, I appreciate it.  Believe it or not, your
request for an example actually led me to a quick work around for this ...

Our .doc files have confidential customer information in them, so I tried to
create an "example" by opening one of the .doc files which was saved with
LibreOffice, removing the confidential information, and resaving it using
OpenOffice.

I did this and, low and behold, when I re-opened the .doc file again, the
completed checkboxes were back.

So, in short, a quick work around to use the old LibreOffice .doc files (with
checkboxes) in OpenOffice would be to:

(1) open it in OpenOffice; 
(2) re-save it as a .doc file with OpenOffice; and then
(3) re-open it in OpenOffice

I downgraded this to "minor" since the work around is so easy.  I do not have
libreoffice available here, but I do at home, so I'll upload an example of the
glitch over the weekend in case you're still interested.

Can you attach one of those documents in order to reproduce the bug?
