perso I would prefer the rest one :-).
regarding user management at things started on redback [http://svn.codehaus.org/redback/redback/trunk/redback-rest/redback-rest-services/src/main/java/org/codehaus/redback/rest/services/DefaultUserService.java]
and the unit test.
I wonder about adding a module called redback-rest-client with some client support.
WDYT ?
