   In extreme instances `StackOverflowError` is produced

   2.0.6 and earlier
   
   ### What was the actual outcome?
   
   Recursive proxying leads to SO if some cases
   
   ### What was the expected outcome?
   
   No recursive proxying occurs
   
   ### How to reproduce
   
   N/A
   
   ### Debug logs
