How to use URL rewritting?
Hi, I need some help to implement some tests on a web application.
This application has a login/entry point wich returns a session id in the
HTTP body:
SID: BewSmkR56SgKJF8Gej5scrVpPd4txl0acrENtd81u0DML3na6pq3g1AJNBq7BJOt
The following must include the SID as HTTP parameter:
http://host:port/REQUEST=Command&SID=....
Now I am trying to validate this application with Jmeter and I don't know
how to use properly the URL rewrite function.
Here is an outline of an example test:
Example Test
|- Example Thread
| |- HTTP Request Defaults
| |- HTTP Cookie Manager
| |- HTTP Header Manager
| |- HTTP Request (login/GET SID)
| |- HTTP Request (Command)
| |- HTTP URL Re-writing
| |- View Result Tree
In the URL Re-writting I set the session argument name "SID" (as it is
returned in the first response)and the checkboxes are clear.
In the result tree I can see that Jmeter is adding the SID parameter in
the second request, but the value is incorrect: it sets SID=%3A where it
should be a 64 digits numbers.
What am I doing wrong using URL re-writting?
Thanks,
Pep Serrano.

Hi Jordi,
You were rigth. The URL Rewriter didn't match "SID: " because the white
space. Using regexp solved my thing.
Cheers

The URL Rewriter is sometimes limited in the kind of strings it can
handle. Your's seems to contain a space after the "SID:", which probably
breaks it.
I would recommend to use a RegExp extractor on the 1st request, then use
the variable you obtained to include the session id in subsequent requests.

Using URL rewriting
Posted by Pep Serrano <my...@montblanc.homeip.net>.
Dear all,
I need some help to use the URL rewriting please.
I am testing a web application with login and sesion IDs:
- The first request is a validation login that returns back a Session ID
(number of 64 digits),
- The following requests must include the SID as part of the URL parameters.
So I am trying to use the URL rewriting to compose the request URL, but it
doesn't work for me. Where the SID returned in the first request is
something like "SID:
BewSmkR56SgKJF8Gej5scrVpPd4txl0acrENtd81u0DML3na6pq3g1AJNBq7BJOt",
the URL rewriting inserts the parameter "&SID=%3A" in the following
request URLs.
What am I doing wrong?
Cheers
Pep Serrano.
