[jira] Created: (CASSANDRA-2193) issue tracking link on front page?

issue tracking link on front page?
----------------------------------

                 Key: CASSANDRA-2193
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-2193
             Project: Cassandra
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Documentation & website
            Reporter: Benson Margulies
            Priority: Minor

It's fairly traditional for an ASF tlp front page to have some sort of pointer to the issue tracking system on the front page. You seem to have everything else, why not JIRA?

[jira] Commented: (CASSANDRA-2193) issue tracking link on front page?

Eric Evans commented on CASSANDRA-2193:

bq. It's fairly traditional for an ASF tlp front page to have some sort of pointer to the issue tracking system on the front page.

Is it? The first few I tried did not. Some, (Tomcat and HTTPD for example) have a link to a dedicated "submitting bugs" type page.

bq. You seem to have everything else, why not JIRA?

The front-page is very much geared toward high-level description, and ends (content nearer the bottom) with links for learning more. I can't really see a way of wedging a link to the bug tracker in there that doesn't seem out of context.

What we do have (on every page) is the "Contribute" link (links to http://wiki.apache.org/cassandra/HowToContribute) which could do with some work, including making earlier/more prominent mention of the issue tracker. That page is a wiki and can be edited by anyone.
