I am not sure whether I understand all details of the request. At least a part
of your request seems to be that you need "something" what allows to hide a
predefined set of columns of a sheet? Example for what I beleive:
Let's imagine a Table with meterologic data for 8 Places, Fist columne
measuring time, Columns B-I Temperatures 1-8, J-Q Humidities 1-8, R-Y
interceptions 1-8, Z-AH Clouds, (... and may be some other measuring data, each
always continuous for 8 places in 8 successing rows.
If I no want to see only all Data for Place 1, It would be useful to have a
possibility to hide all Columns with Data related to other places, os that only
columns A, B, J, R, Z (...) remain visible, and that with 1-2 mouse clicks
after column definition has been done. And the same for the other places.
Currently I use macros for such a function, but that is very inflexible and and
wxpensive.

IS that at least a part of that what you need?
