Roller 2.1 Wishlist -Virtual Ne

I have been paying attention to Romain blogs on the exciting things going on at the swingfx project. I have joined this community in the hopes that we can drive more exciting and useful projects that can be integrated to other project that I have interest in as well. For example my dream is to make good business model out the Roller Blog project that is driving Sun’s blogging site. A lot of good ideas has been coming out that project although I am yet to purchase Dave Johnson’s book, I bet we can all drive those killer ideas and the one yet to come.

 

I am proposing that we have a virtual news caster feature in Roller that can read text to speech. I believe this can be done with using FreeTTS < http://freetts.sourceforge.net/docs/index.php#what_is_freetts>. Imagine how cool it will be to have the option of reading or having virtual news caster read the blogs to you. How cool is that? I know its been done in other cyberspace such as ananova.com, well I read about it. My hope is to drive this exciting feature further and make it much more amusing: with few algorithmic codes we can let the virtual news caster take on the pattern of the one who wrote the blog for example when reading the Jonathan Schwartz blog; the virtual new caster take on the pattern of Jonathan. This may be able to be accomplish if images, attributes and behavioral patterns are stored in database (Apache Derby) or other content management system such (Apache JackRabbit).
