There have been cases where the default token timeout of 15 seconds is not high enough. To increase it, set the default for the {{AbstractGatewaySender.TOKEN_TIMEOUT}} static variable higher:

  Integer.getInteger("GatewaySender.TOKEN_TIMEOUT", 15000).intValue();
