This needs to be fixed in the [plexus-compiler-javac|https://github.com/codehaus-plexus/plexus-compiler/blob/master/plexus-compilers/plexus-compiler-javac/src/main/java/org/codehaus/plexus/compiler/javac/JavacCompiler.java#L438-L532] codebase.
