Fuzzy matching of XML documenets to schemas

I am working on a project to produce a fuzzy matching system that takes an
XML document and a set of XML schemas and decides which schema it conforms
to the most. So for example the system would give a mark out of ten to the
XML document to indicate how well it fits a particular schema. This should
take into account the degree of any errors that are found in the XML
document. For example, an invalid value for an attribute would count as a
minor error and a missing element would count as a major error.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I should go about doing
this, or if they have any suggestions on where I should start. Any
suggestions or help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Rahul Vyas
