Nightly Build - Digester Method Not Found Exception

I'm not an active developer of struts (as you probably know), and I've only
been using it for about 3 months. But, I need a feature that is "post 1.0",
so I figured I'd try the Nightly Build. I downloaded and installed the 11/3
build and encounterd a problem:

java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
    	at org.apache.commons.digester.Digester.getReader(Digester.java:527)
    	at org.apache.commons.digester.Digester.parse(Digester.java:1206)
    	at
org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet.initMapping(ActionServlet.java:1274)
    	at org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet.init(ActionServlet.java:461)

1) I assumed that for nightly build related problems, I should raise the
question on this list, rather than the struts-user list. Is that correct?
My appologies, if it isn't

2) Is this problem...
    a) "oops - that's not good build problem"? What's a reasonably stable
recent build?
    b) a configuration problem of some type on my side? perhaps something
specifically related to to the 1.0 to Nightly upgrade?
    c) something else? Suggestions?

Thanks
David Corbin

Struts does not rely on unreleased packages from anywhere. The nightly
builds - and your own builds, unless you have a compelling reason to do
otherwise - should be based on released versions of Commons packages only.

Probably. We had it up seperately for a long time first.

Most of what people are working on now are plug-in components (Tiles,
ValidatorForm). We unsure if things like Tiles and the Validator belong
here or in the Commons.

Personally, I'd like to start breaking it down into a JAR for each
package, which we might be able to release seperately. The indexed tags
are a good example.

The binary is probably using the latest release from the Commons. The
source would use whatever you provided.

Well, what I need at the moment is the "indexed" property for <html:*> tags.
I have no idea if it's something that could be patched. It seems to me
there was another feature I wanted to use and worked around before that.

I'm a long way from any serious release. Is there any
plan/schedule/feature-list in place for the next rev of struts?

Is the nightly build built from a consistent set of "commons" classes, or
does it use nightly builds (or fresh source) of those too?

To be honest, lilke some others, I haven't tried a nightly build lately.

One thing is that the digester, et al, have been moved to the Commons,
and there are now dependancies on those "external" packages.

Also, I believe someone has mentioned that there were some conflicts
with the later versions of the Digester.

Wish I could be of more help.

What feature are you after? Is is something you could patch to 1.0?

Re: Nightly Build - Digester Method Not Found Exception

Most people ask "nightly build problem" questions on struts-user, but I
guess it's valid over here as well. ;-)

My guess is that you are using a JAXP 1.0 compliant parser. The Struts
nightly builds now depend on a JAXP 1.1 compliant parser. See the
installation page for details:
