[jira] [Created] (JAMES-2036) APPEND command asks for useless Metadata

Tellier Benoit created JAMES-2036:
-------------------------------------

Summary: APPEND command asks for useless Metadata
                 Key: JAMES-2036
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-2036
             Project: James Server
          Issue Type: Bug
            Reporter: Tellier Benoit

APPEND commands checks the UID VALIDITY of the mailbox it has been APPENDing to. Too do so, it requires metadata from the mailbox.

Unfortunately, it uses the NO_UNSEEN fetch group, which still include RECENTs and message count, generating two reads on the database.

Note that it also generate more chances for failure.

We should switch the fetch group to NO_COUNT, which is the minimum one (the generated metadata is not used in other places).
