[jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-13348) delete spurious 'master' branch
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-13348?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15366794#comment-15366794 ]
Andrew Wang commented on HADOOP-13348:
--------------------------------------
So I tried this, and it looks like the branch is protected by the INFRA hook:
{noformat}
-> % git push origin :master
remote: Rewinding refs/heads/master is forbidden.
remote:
To https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/hadoop.git
! [remote rejected] master (pre-receive hook declined)
error: failed to push some refs to 'https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/hadoop.git'
{noformat}
I'll file an INFRA JIRA about this.

> Right now the git repo has a branch named 'master' in addition to our 'trunk' branch. Since 'master' is the common-place name of the 'most recent' branch in git repositories, this is misleading to new folks.
> It looks like the branch is from ~11 months ago. We should remove it.
