[jira] Created: (MASSEMBLY-281) Assembly Descriptor from external or parent source

Assembly Descriptor from external or parent source
--------------------------------------------------

                 Key: MASSEMBLY-281
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MASSEMBLY-281
             Project: Maven 2.x Assembly Plugin
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: Ben Tatham

It would be really convenient if you could easily share assembly descriptors from the parent pom. If the parent pom defines an assembly (likely in pluginManagement), and the descriptor lives in that parent project, then the child should be able to run the same assembly, without having to explicitly download and unpack the parent project dependency.

The same fix/feature could be used for other config-file based plugins, like maven-verifier-plugin, as well.
