Next steps on Apache geospatial identified in Vancouver

Apache Big Data NA 2016 included a Geospatial Track
There were eight presentations, a BoF session, and a wrap-up session.
A separate message provides a summary of the presentations
https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/Zl9nadv8s6ytbqf

The wrap-up session for the geospatial track included these items:
- A presentation was offered as an initial summary of the geospatial track
     https://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/?artifact_id=68622
- Discussion all attending (geospatial track presenters) about the track.
- Next steps were identified.

These four next steps were identified to advance discussion of geospatial in Apache:

1. Apache Mailing list for geospatial
Sergio got this done already: https://lists.apache.org/list.html?geospatial@apache.org

2. Relevant PMC chairs include geospatial as a topic in their quarterly report
Marmotta and SIS suggested that this would be good to do.
It was discussed that the reports might recommend
          - coordination across Apache projects
          - coordination external to Apache, e.g., OGC and Location Tech

3. An Apache member to be the person in charge of external links
For example, Apache to OGC link recommend by Martin.
This might be handled similar to the Apache-W3C VP
     A similar role for LocationTech.

4. Future events for a geospatial track of open source and open standards.

   • FOSS4G, Bonn Germany, August, 24 – 26 2016
A session is accepted and being developed on this topic for FOSS4G 2016
Contact George Percivall or Athina Trakas from OGC for more info

     • OGC Big Data Working Group, Florida, USA, Sept 2016
The working group will consider the white paper that is discussed in the summary charts

     • ApacheCon Europe - Seville, Spain, 14-18 November 2016
This is in initial planning stages. It was discussed briefly in Vancouver.
