reusing connections is unreliable

           Summary: reusing connections is unreliable
           Product: Commons
           Version: 2.0 Alpha 3
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: HttpClient
        AssignedTo: commons-httpclient-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: becke@u.washington.edu

HttpConnection reuse is unreliable. Because of the following:

1) There is currently no way to determine if a connection is still open on the
server side.
2) If an IOException occurs while writing to a connection it cannot be reused.
