   Thanks for the information!
   It seems that we need to bump Abseil before we bump gRPC. (Or we may need to bump them at once.)

   With the recent changes to move from `ExternalProject` to `FetchContent` for a bunch of our third party dependencies we tried to simplify the version bumps as this proved challenging during a long time.
   I did a quick test locally a couple days ago but started having issues of targets redefinition between `Crc32c` and `absl::crc32c`. abseil newest versions define a `Crc32c` target too and wasn't unable to fix it.
   I might submit a PR "soon-ish" at least sharing the problem in case someone has ideas on how to fix it. I am not sure I will be able to do it before new year and the 23.0.0 release but just wanted to share that I was stuck on that.

   +1 for bumping bundled gRPC. Newer version of gRPC after 1.46.3 includes critical fixes to issues such as https://github.com/grpc/grpc/issues/35511. If someone can help with this it would be great.

   Using gRPC version 1.46.3, I ran into pem root certs access issue on macOS Intel which blocks connection to remote server instances that need a cert to connect. I do not see this issue using dynamic gRPC library v1.76.0. And the short-term workaround is to run
   ```
   export GRPC_DEFAULT_SSL_ROOTS_FILE_PATH=/etc/ssl/cert.pem
   ```
   in case anyone sees the same issue.

   Thanks @raulcd for the update, appreciate it. Looking forward to your PR. Hopefully folks in the community will have an idea for the fix on `Crc32c`

   Hi @raulcd, do you know if the gRPC version bump will be included in Arrow 24.0?

   I think we have had several attempts of this in the past:
   - https://github.com/apache/arrow/issues/45063

   If I recall correctly bumping gRPC requires us to bump Abseil too.

   Thank you very much Raul and everyone who brought this in. I can confirm that this resolved the `empty address list: ` error on ODBC mentioned here https://github.com/apache/arrow/issues/46016#issuecomment-3662474710.

   I am unsure. I have tried several times but my last attempt is this draft PR from a month ago:
   - https://github.com/apache/arrow/pull/48964

   We had some problems with google-cloud-cpp at that time. Since then they've released version 3.1.0 and 3.2.0 but I haven't tried those:
   https://github.com/googleapis/google-cloud-cpp/releases

   The problem of upgrading one dependencye (absel, protobuf, gRPC) is that they are all tightly coupled and we have to upgrade all of them in one go. And then other dependencies that used them like google-cloud-cpp, possibly opentelemetry...

   I'll see if I can take some time to revive that PR but I was stuck at that time.
