[jira] [Commented] (HIVE-9577) Fire insert event on HCatalog appends

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-9577?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15110414#comment-15110414 ]

Elliot West commented on HIVE-9577:
-----------------------------------

I'm trying to evaluate what would be required to implement this. Conceptually it seems fairly simple. My first thoughts are that this needs to happen somewhere in {{hive-hcatalog-core}}, possibly in {{org.apache.hive.hcatalog.mapreduce.FileOutputCommitterContainer.commitJob(JobContext)}}? Any guidance would be appreciated.

> HIVE-9271 added the ability to fire a listener event on the metastore to notify on inserts, and HIVE-9273 added this ability to register data appends in hive to trigger this event. HCatalog appends should also trigger this event.
