In the 2 days since bringing up v3.1 on one mail server the following is occuring in the
users .spamassassin directory. Not good for quotas and daily backups. Using spamc/spamd

this may be related to bug 4650 where the child timeout is reached during a
spamd auto-expire, in turn leaving bayes_toks.expire* files laying around.

Once SA starts an expire, it expects to be able to finish it. If you're killing
the process before it finishes, it'll leave the temp files around, so don't do
that. :)

Another issue to check for is if you're using an integration tool such as
MailScanner, make sure it isn't timing SA out and killing it when it tries to
auto-expire tokens.
While in some ways it would be good to clean these up, that would be covering up
a larger problem of SA being killed while running its expiry process.
I'd suggest treating the problem, not the symptom.
