Flash Builder 4.7 crash
Hi,
I was just about to start a new Flex/Air Mobile application project when I ran into problems with the package settings someone might have experienced too:
I’m using Flash Builder 4.7 premium on the latest MacOS and latest Flex and AIR SDKs.
Whenever I choose the properties for the project and then click on either "Apple iOS" or "Google Android” (below “Flex Build Packaging” menu) or on “Configure Settings” elsewhere Flash Builder 4.7 crashes immediately. This worked a couple of days before but I get this on all projects now. Tried to reinstall Flash Builder and the lastest AIR and Flex SDK but the bug remains.
Is there a way to reset (remove) all the settings that may cause this bug? Other workarounds? All tips are welcome…
Thanks
Jesper

I have a similar situation, is there any alternative available ?
I am using FB46 with Coldfusionbuilder Plugin for managing Coldfusion services, especially generating the valueobject and services classes.

Hi Vincent,
Yes, I still use FB for Royale (FlexJS) framework and app development
mainly to try to make sure there is one less thing that folks have to
change to try Royale. I'm not sure if FB and even IntelliJ will ever
upgrade to make Royale a first-class project type, and every day the new
IDEs (VSCode and Moonshine) get better at handling Royale projects, but
for now the Royale team is trying to get Royale to work with existing Flex
IDEs.
Thanks,
-Alex

Hi Vincent,
I'm not sure what you mean by "working on". I am using FB 4.7 Premium
every day, but I don't use it for Mobile development. I am mainly making
sure that FB works ok for Royale by changing Royale's compiler. I've
never been on the Flash Builder development team.

I'm amazed anyone is still using FB 4.7. Get IntelliJ IDEA as it is a more effective IDE for building Flex apps. It comes with full Flex support out of the box. Also, upgrading SDKs is WAAYYY easier than FB 4.7 and switching between SDKs is like one mouse click if you have to revert. I do AIR mobile apps for a living and could never go back to that POS FB 4.7.
Sorry for the product advertisement but my inbox sometimes gets crowded with yet another struggling developer trying to use FB 4.7 creating monster threads that can be entirely avoided by climbing a little learning curve and spending a few dollars to upgrade to a real Flex development tool that is wonderfully supported and always up to date.
Cheers,

Have you applied the changes to FB to handle Java 7/8? See the post below.

both and let us know! Moonshine and VSCode is pretty active - if you find

Yes, I recognise that problem - it’s the same for the "Add ANE” button although you can solve it using the Add Folder which works.
So what alternatives are there when building mobile Flex/AIR apps?
For me, I need a debugger and the packaging for mobile apps, something that makes the handling of provisions file, certificates etc easy.
And maybe a bit similar to Flash Builder to save some learning time.
Is FDT any good? Or the VSCode extension (is that Visual Studio?) as Olaf mentioned.

Hello Jesper,
Yes, it seems that Flash Builder and High Sierra don't get along well.
I already observed other critical bug, for example you can't add a SWC
library to a project in the Flex Build Path tag of the properties panel
because the browse button don't launch the file browser anymore.
I don't know if Adobe planned to correct those bugs, I think it's highly
unlikely...

Yes, it’s probably time to find a replacement for Flash Builder so I will check out the alternatives.
Btw I realised my problem came after upgrading to High Sierra, so that might be related.

Hi Jesper,
unfortunately, I can't help with your issue but I'd like to mention that
Josh Tynjala just released a new version of his VSCode extension that
supports AIR packaging now [1].
Maybe it's worth to check it out.
@All
Keep in mind that FlashBuilder is not supported anymore.
It is up to us to support Josh to place him in the position to keep up his
awesome work! ;-) [3]
