when compiling httpd-2.2.8 on SunOS 5.9 sun4u with the Sun Studio 12 C compiler
I get this error
"exports.c", line 1386: undefined symbol: ap_send_interim_response
"exports.c", line 1386: non-constant initializer involving a cast
cc: acomp failed for exports.c
which did not occur in httpd-2.2.6 using the same LD_OPTIONS etc etc.

Can you do:
cd server
rm export*
make > make.log
then attach the make.log to this bug report.

make log
this is a make log file compiling in 32bit mode, though it gives the same error
as compiling in 64bit mode

OK, I presume /opt/apache/include includes headers for a previous httpd 2.x release?
-I/opt/apache/include is being added to CPPFLAGS/INCLUDES too early; are you
specifying that manually when invoking configure? If not, can you unpack a
fresh tarball, and re-run configure from scratch with the same arguments,
capturing the output to a file, and then attach both that and the config.log
produced.

configure output
i stripped the configure options down and noticed that 2.2.8 compiles fine
without the --with-pcre option, so that option seem to add the
-I/opt/apache/include too early...
when configuring version 2.2.6 with this option it compiles just fine...

Using --with-pcre=/opt/apache where /opt/apache holds an older version
(presumably 2.2.6) is wrong (as it is no a clean pcre only installation but
mixed up with an httpd installation). Either specify an external pcre library
location here or omit the --with-pcre option entirely.
