We have the same problem. I am working for an insurance company and our new "calculator for insurances" will run on trinidad and use PPR. Since internally we use IE6 we cannot switch to XHR based newer versions. The calculator will be used by resellers too. I don't see that we can get them all to use IE7 or Firefox.
The choice of the communication mechanism PPR or XHR is very important.
