[users@httpd] Timeout Settings for mod_proxy

User Group:

I have an application which is served off an application server (Orion)
through an Apache server using mod_proxy. Occasionally the application
server is asked to do something which takes a very long time. The
application server always responds, but sometimes not in time. In this case
it appears the Apache server waits a period of time then sends out a HTTP
502 response to the client. The 502 response is also sent if the application
server can't be reached, which is right.

I'd like to know if there is any way to set the amount of time Apache waits
for the application server response. If not, does anyone know any other way
to keep the timeout from occurring. I've looked through all the Apache docs
I can get my hands on to no avail.

I'm running Apache 1.3.19 (no laughing please).

Thanks in advance.

 ~ Robert
