Re: mod_access/903: .htaccess files in subdirectories ignored

Synopsis: .htaccess files in subdirectories ignored

State-Changed-From-To: open-feedback
State-Changed-By: Lars.Eilebrecht@unix-ag.org
State-Changed-When: Wed Aug 6 04:05:29 PDT 1997
State-Changed-Why:
If you use 'Satifsy Any' you enable access control either
by deny/allow _OR_ by password.
If a host passes the deny/allow lines no pasword
authentication is need, if it is denied by mod_access
the user needs to enter a password.

If you want to use password authentication in a
subdirectory you need to change the Satisfy
directive to 'All' (the default value), either in the
parent .htaccess file or in the .htaccess file of the
subdirectory itself.
