Re: CouchDB "Joins" article Licence acknowledge

Christopher,

Slight snag. Per the Apache legal guidelines, we'll move the copyright
notice out of the file and put it in NOTICE (actually, probably in the next
release, as we don't want to hold up this one any more than we have to, and
it's not a blocker for us).

But we can't actually ship this without a license. Would you be willing to
license it to us? I think that a statement of intent on the mailing list is
probably fine. (As if submitting a patch.) The Apache license is probably
our preferred one.

Thanks,

Thanks Chris.

Now that you've licensed the work under the Apache License 2.0, we are free
to make a derivative version. So I think we should massage the text a bit
(for the next release) so this intro doesn't seem so jarring.

Thanks!

Hey Noah,

sure you can use the text from "CouchDB Joins" in the docs. Or, ehem, <formal voice>, I hereby grant the Apache CouchDB project a license to use this content under the terms of the ASL. :)

My earlier point was more about the reader of the CouchDB docs being confused by the section starting with the words "Just today, there was a discussion on IRC how you’d go about [...]" and all that. The whole text needs to be put into context/perspective for the reader, namely that it's from a blog post in 2007. This isn't really about making me happy with the attribution :)

Thanks,
Chris
