Google+ CouchDB page proposal / weekly news

Hi,

Now that we have a CouchDB Google+ "page", I figure the "page" can +1
things, no?

So what if we allow any interested parties to access this page (you can
actually sign-in _as_ the page) and then we say that whatever the Google+
page +1s during the week, we roll these up into the weekly news / roundup
stuff that I've been intermittently been doing.

Would this be a good way to distribute the content / community curation
efforts? I am guessing the CouchDB Google+ could be used to +1 content in
the CouchDB Google+ community as well as from anybody the CouchDB Google+
page has in it's circles.

Benoit are you happy with this?

Folks, anyone interested in helping out with this / getting access
to curate? This would be a team effort. And I would need a few people to
log in once a week and just go through the new posts, and +1 and comment on
anything that would be interesting to the wider community.

Thanks!

Good. I would prefer that, especially if we can open up the blog to all comers!

I'm happy to sort that out.

Dave,

I would like to do the weekly news on the CouchDB blog. We should be
focusing as much of our efforts on official channels, so that they become
rich sources of information. I would hate to bifurcate things.

Along those lines, I would like to redirect couchdbweekly.com to
https://blogs.apache.org/couchdb/ and I would like to retire @couchdbweekly
in favour of @CouchDB. Then we can spread the word about the project
through central channels.

I would also like to see contributions. There is no reason you need to be a
comitter to contribute. I think we should talk about opening up the blog to
guest posts, and come up with a system that makes that completely trivial.

Thoughts?

Yup, I'm in.

Also I have the @couchdbweekly and couchdbweekly.com twitter and blog
domains to contribute to the community. If we are going with the plan
to have the https://blogs.apache.org/couchdb/ only for releases and
announcements, I'd love to use the *weekly one for the purpose I
originally intended. I've got > 1000 couch links collated and ready to

first contribution, you get commit rights to a markdown-based repo. Is
anybody interested in doing this with me, and sharing their
enthusiasm?

That could be a good Idea, at least could drain more activity on the
g+ page and community.
