I'm not sure I understand your question, but I think I'll answer it
anyway :),

It is important to compile Perl and mod_perl with the same compiler.

If you compile mod_perl on one machine and attempt to run the binary
on another machine you risk all kinds of problems.  It can be done,
and it's not difficult, but you have to know what you're doing.
