[jira] [Created] (PIG-2154) e2e test harness should be database agnostic

e2e test harness should be database agnostic
--------------------------------------------

                 Key: PIG-2154
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PIG-2154
             Project: Pig
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: tools
    Affects Versions: 0.10
            Reporter: Alan Gates
            Assignee: Alan Gates

Currently the end-to-end test harness depends on Postgresql for its source of truth database. Since different users use different databases this is inconvenient. Also, being able to use easily installable databases such as derby will make it much easier to use in nightly builds.

Alan Gates resolved PIG-2154.
-----------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix

Rather than switch Postgres for another DB we will switch the tests to use other versions of Pig or alternate Pig scripts to produce expected results. See https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/PIG/PigTestProposal for proposal.
