Assigning this ticket to myself even though Chintan is doing all the work. :) His work on [PR 591|https://github.com/apache/cassandra-cpp-driver/pull/591] is what we're aiming to use to address this issue.

This was apparently a consequence of work done on [CPP-786|https://datastax-oss.atlassian.net/browse/CPP-786] and [CPP-922|https://datastax-oss.atlassian.net/browse/CPP-922]. The trail seems to indicate that the problem was that a recent Ubuntu release had broken mockssandra.
