Hi Roman,

Thanks for the review and feedback!

Given the license, notice, and disclaimer has been added for the jar of pxf, we can incorporate that information to pxf rpm package itself in the next Apache HAWQ release.

Hi John,

Do you feel good to have license, notice, and disclaimer for pxf rpm and add binaries for more platforms in the following releases as Ed mentioned?
Please vote with +1 if yes. Thanks.

Roman and John,

I have created the following JIRA to track this issue:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HAWQ-1496 ("Deliver LICENSE, NOTICE
and DISCLAIMER in main PXF RPM")

Regarding the comment "its a little odd that you only provide RPMs", this
is the project's first attempt at delivering convenience binaries. We are
learning a lot through this process and didn't want to chew off too much. I
believe the community will review delivering additional artifacts in
subsequent releases as demand hopefully increases.

I agree with what you said, assuming there's a JIRA tracking fixing it. I
think the LICENSE/NOTICE should be in the RPMs and should be valid, instead
of just in the JARs.

BTW its a little odd that you only provide RPMs. Do you also plan to
support DEBs? What about install on macOS/Windows?

I'm +1 on the release with one caveat: it seems that pxf RPMs don't
deliver LICENSE/NOTICE/DISCLAIMER.
inside of the RPMs. Normally that would be enough for me to cast a -1,
but it seems that the JARs inside
of the RPMs (and these RPMs deliver JARs only) actually bundle the
required files.

My take it is that we shouldn't hold a release for that -- but I'll
let the rest of IPMC chime in.

The rest looks really good:
   * checked sigs and hashes
   * compared source tarball to the git tag
   * checked for license headers in the source
   * installed the RPMs

Thanks,
Roman.

Hi,

+1 (binding)

I checked:
- incubating in name
- signatures and hashes correct
- disclaimer exists
- LICENSE and NOTICE look good
- It’s hard to check headers in this release but a spot check codn't find any issues. Would be nice if text file like xml and sql files had headers IMO but not a requirement.
- no unexpected binary files
- didn’t have right environment to compile

Thanks,
Justin
