Re: SAMA5D27 USB support?
Takeyoshi,
Cool, thanks! I probably forgot to do the USB (and other peripheral) init
in sam_bringup.c. I will try that tomorrow.
cheers

Adam,
I tested with USB Storage and found it works.
USB serial devices are not working because there is no driver (pl-2303).
I've sent the pull request to your Github repository, can you check it?

there too as a work-in-progress).

I did this as well. It works. I'm going to to submit a PR for this work,
even though the other devices are not completely tested— that will get the
SAMA5D27 USB Host support into mainline.
Thanks for your help Takeyoshi and Greg!

Easiest way to test USB host is to configure the USB mass storage class
and connect a USB FLASH drive. You also need FAT file system support.
Re: SAMA5D27 USB support?
Posted by Adam Feuer <ad...@starcat.io>.
Takeyoshi,
I pulled your branch and worked on it today. I don't have a CDC ACM device
to test with (or cable). So I figured out that I can't test that... I'm
going to get some cables so I can hook up a Raspberry Pi to my SAMA5D2-XULT
board and see how that goes. That will take me a couple of days to get the
cables.
I tried the HIDKBD example... NuttX doesn't recognize my USB keyboard
because it has its USB subclass and protocol at the interface level, not
the main device level... NuttX apparently doesn't traverse down the tree to
find it. So it doesn't recognize the device.
So it seems like the USB Host stuff is working, but I have no compatible
devices to test it with! Have you plugged in the Quectel B696 to the USB
port to see if the CDC ACM driver works?
cheers

Re: SAMA5D27 USB support?
Posted by Adam Feuer <ad...@starcat.io>.
Takeyoshi,
Hey, I wasn't able to work on the USB Host yesterday, but today I did get a
config that compiles and initializes the SAMA5D27 USB Host... but I'm still
not able to run the usbserial example, I get this error:
nsh> usbserial
> usbserial_main: Registering USB serial driver
> usbserial_main: ERROR: Failed to create the USB serial device: 1
>
At least I'm getting errors, so I can debug. I'll work on it tomorrow and
let you know how it goes. This is with the code in the branch, a config
that's using it.
Here's the defconfig that I'm using right now:

I'll try the USB host tomorrow too. I want the GMAC to work too. I'll let
you know if I make any progress on either of these.

I also want to use USB HOST (for LTE modem).
I tried Ethernet, but I have confirmed that ping stops several times.
SAMA5D2x's GMAC has an expanded packet size, so we would like to modify
it to accommodate this.

Yes, I plan to implement PIO, SPI, I2C, MMC, and Ethernet, at least. The
branch has code for all those now, but I haven't tested them. On the
SAMA5D36 the GMAC/EMAC ethernet drivers can't do large TCP sends, because
there's some problem with sending lots of packets quickly, I am not sure
what it is. I haven't tested the SAMA5D27 for this yet, I'll probably do
that tomorrow.
Which peripherals are you interested in?

Adam,
I am glad that USB is working.
By the way, do you plan to implement other peripherals?

I measured the SAMA5D27 CDC ECM Ethernet over USB speed using USB 2.0 HS to
a Linux host. It looks like it can do about 11,000 KB/S, or more than
90Mbit/s. That's better than the SAMA5D36. Awesome. :)

Re: SAMA5D27 USB support?
Posted by Adam Feuer <ad...@starcat.io>.
Takeyoshi,
Thank you for the pointer to the sam_bringup.c code! I brought some of the
SAMA5D3-Xplained code to the SAMA5D2-XULT sam_bringup.c, and got the USB
2.0 HS port to work with the CDC ECM driver.
I pushed my code to the branch feature/sama5d2-peripheral-support
<https://github.com/starcat-io/incubator-nuttx/tree/feature/sama5d2-peripheral-support>
.
I'll do a pull request after I do some more testing.
cheers
