Obtaining user id.

Dear cocoon users,

Im trying to develop a webmail application using cocoon. When the reply button is clicked in a mail the 'To' field should be filled automatically. How can i obtain the user id from the session for this purpose? I tried using xsp session and got an encrypted value which isnt of much use.
plz help.
