Report necessary

Hello folks,

the first three months in the incubator we need to file podling reports.
Later, when you are part of the Logging project again, the current chair
will file the reports. At the moment this is me.

however it makes sense if log4cxx would draft a report itself.
Its a good thing to learn about the processes here and of course
you should take the chance to write up what you think about your project.

Please note that reports are not so "in-depth" actually, just speaking
of the next steps for the podling and showing any problems (legals etc).

Usually reports are prepared in private and some projects publish them later.
At the incubator all are public by default.

When the report is filed, mentors will sign it. In addition an incubator
shepherd will check on the project just in case mentors are not here.

Any volunteers?

Cheers
Christian

Hey guys,

excellent report. In future you could keep it even a bit shorter.
Basically the board (or the IPCM in this case) just wants
to see some kind of highlevel issues. In example: dev process is active,
biggest issue is with the website.
Not so much of interest is: "we fix bugs" as this is kind a normal.

Just saying to save you a bit time for the next report.
Anyway, great stuff, its in the wiki and already signed

Cheers

ok - almost nothing in fact.
Here is my suggestion - but again, don't hesitate to make changes.

--------------------
log4cxx2

Logging for C++

log4cxx2 has been incubating since 2013-12-09.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

  1. We probably need to decide what's an acceptable platform/compiler
list, sort out any remaining hiccups, and then move towards a
     release.
  2. We need to publish the project site with updated content to
reflect the new status and fix documentation bugs.
  3. We need to make a broader use of the ASF infrastructure
(notably the CI, as well as improved management of the Jira
site - notably with triaging), and establish a roadmap for
     the next releases.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

We are stuck on INFRA-7209 and how to properly publish the project
  site.

How has the community developed since the last report?

The committers are still getting acquainted with each other and the
foundation. There have been some discussions about how to develop
within the team of committers already, like using a CI, how
to deal with issues regarding a changelog, which fixes should be
covered by our first incubation release etc.
Moderation of the list seems to work, there were some support
requests which were answered and problems introduced by commits on
  trunk discussed.

How has the project developed since the last report?

Some known bugs were fixed already and available patches applied,
which is work in progress for the new release. It has been suggested
to schedule most of the remaining available patches for an upcoming
release of 0.11.0 to include as much content which has been provided
  over the years as possible.

Date of last release:

  2008-04-03 was the official, pre-incubation 0.10.0

Many post-0.10.0 commits exist on trunk which we intend to get out
  as 0.11.x.

When were the last committers or PMC members elected?

  N/A

Here is my suggestion - but again, don't hesitate to make changes.

--------------------
log4cxx2

Logging for C++

log4cxx2 has been incubating since 2013-12-09.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

In Germany "tomorrow" is right around the corner ;-), therefore I
would like to give it a start by combining the already available
content. I hope it doesn't bother you, Florian, feel free to change.

You maybe need wiki permissions there, so just send me your wiki
username.
You can also send the report here and I will post it - please note its
due soon (tomorrow).

And draft is fine! We have a lot of eyes aroudn to improve it

Thanks for volunteering Florian!

It's not too bad, just edit the wiki at
https://wiki.apache.org/incubator/February2014 to plug our details in.

platform/compiler list, sort out any remaining hiccups, and then move
