[jira] Created: (INFRA-3058) mailing list doc does not describe accept-all etc.

mailing list doc does not describe accept-all etc.
--------------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-3058
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-3058
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Improvement
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Website
            Reporter: Benson Margulies

I was reading http://www.apache.org/dev/committers.html#mail-moderate to try to learn how to 'accept all' for the jira alias on the isis dev list.

If someone would be so kind as to clue me in, I'll post up a patch to add that to the page.

The moderation messages I'm getting do not seem to have anything in the from or cc list that corresponds to this.

Reply-all would add in -tc, not -allow, and the mailing list manager doc that I read, I think, described '-add', not '-allow', but I don't have it in front of me.

Not sure I follow - the example you just provided:

cc isis-dev-allow-tc

seems to me to be suitable for adding the sender to the "isis-dev-allow" list

Not sure why EZMLM adds the -tc, but it works for me.

Have you tried using Reply All?

I confess that I have not. I saw that remark on the page, so I went and read the headers, and I was afraid that reply-all would (on the one hand) include the From: which is the reject address, and on the other hand I couldn't make out the -tc.

Since I have run into stale ASF docs before, I was loath to try that recipe without asking. I will now proceed to do so -- and close this ticket.

The page currently says:

"If you also send mail to the -allow address (i.e. reply to all) then future postings from that address will be allowed through automatically."

Maybe the sentence needs to be made more obvious some how?
