The patch looks good to me. Some minors:
# We may want to add more javadoc for ClientProtocol#rollingUpgrade
# Since ClientProtocol#rollingUpgrade returns long, shall we also let DistributedFileSystem#rollingUpgrade and DFSClient#rollingUpgrade return long?
