While we have the ability to compute histograms on RDDs of Doubles it would be good to also directly support histograms in Spark SQL (see https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/StatisticsAndDataMining#StatisticsAndDataMining-histogram_numeric():Estimatingfrequencydistributions ).
