Greetings
Hello list,
my name is Karl, and I want to help out with the development of the
IMAP support for James. My main interest is to add a layer of Lucene
for the SEARCH command. Thats about all I had to say for now.

You can find a prototype of IMAP code under the proposals area. It
looks like things are pretty far along.

It is in SVN. It isn't in trunk because when I did the mergers, I kept
trunk clean with only active code. The major issue with IMAP isn't protocol
implementation; it is the repository structure.
Jason Webb can give you the most up-to-date status on IMAP. See also the
"IMAP" thread from the week of August 22nd.

Although I belive this means I'll write the IMAP-service from
scratch, the svn-repo does not seem to contain any IMAP-code what so
ever. Is it available somewhere else?
I think I'll use the state machine compiler <http://
smc.sourceforge.net/> for this project.
Does anyone here develop James with Eclipse? I could need some help
setting up my workspace and get Avalon running smooth from within.

I am looking into the IMAP2 proposal as well. I trying to see how far
along it is, and see what is missing.

Hi Karl,
It seems that the work on the IMAP side is almost in stall so you're left
alone.
BTW I think any effort is welcome so if you create any code concerning IMAP
you can then submit that code to JIRA.
I could help later when we need to integrate the code with James.
