[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-15342) Separate out a SolrJ-Zookeeper module

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-15342?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17499412#comment-17499412 ]

Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-15342:
------------------------------------

[~haythemkh] I think David's suggestion to split the minimal API changes into its own Jira issue makes sense. So I created SOLR-16061 "Decouple CloudSolrClient from ZkStateReader", which is now a blocker for 9.0.

Will you link PR 708 to that Jira instead please? As Release Manager I'm targeting a first Release Candidate this week. Do you think you are able to bring the PR up to date for a final review  within a few days?

That should make PR 584 for this Jira much smaller and more focused, and can be targeted for 9.1.

> Let's create a new "SolrJ-Zookeeper" module by refactoring out the ZooKeeper related code out of the existing SolrJ module.  This allows clients that don't want to talk to ZooKeeper to use the SolrJ module without transitive dependencies for ZooKeeper or Netty (Netty is used by ZK for SSL).
