Forrest?

Hi Folks,

could someone tell me how to update the web-site with the PDF's please?

Do we use Forrest? If so, how? because when I tried it yesterday Forrest
was complaining about the directory structure - does someone know the
incantation?

thankyou,
John.

The rationale for having the docs in ws-axis/c/docs is to make sure
that once the checkout is done, there is a local copy of the docs.
This helps with the packaging docs with distibutions as well I guess.

In oher words, once I get the source/binary drop, I do not wish to go
to the website for docs.

Thanks,
Samisa...

  Hi,

Automation is a great idea.............. then don't have to manually copy
& paste.

  FYI
  The documents in ws-axis/site/src/documentation/content/xdocs/cpp/. are
the ihtmls which are needed to build in forrest....... then the documents in
ws_axis\site\build\site\cpp are the htmls.

We have the duplicates in ws_axis\site\build\site\cpp and
check_out/c/docs.

Is it necessary to have the same thing in check_out/c/docs?

  Regards,
  Rangika

Automation -> That's exactly what I thought I would do now - which is why
I'm asking the questions :-)

So, why do we keep these duplicates? I see no point - do Java do this?

Files in ws-axis/site are supposed to be a copy of files in
ws-axis/site/src/documentation/content/xdocs/cpp/.
(Yes we have duplicates and syncing is a problem)

Sometime back I raised few questions on how to sync them up but did
not get any satisfactory answer.

Ideally, I would like to have a single copy and automate the process
of coping it to other locations and forresting - however it would be
some time before we get that done.

fyi. There's an ANT script in the top directory as long as you've set up a
couple of path vars it works OK.

BTW, I forgot to mention, when you checkout ws-axis/site, it will have
the directory structure required by forrest, including the property
files.
Say you ckecked out ws-axis/site to a folder named ''web-site''; Just
ce to 'web-site' folder and run forrest.

OK, so what are the files in ws-axis/c/docs ?

AFAIK you have to take a checkout of ws-axis/site from CVS and run
forrest from the checkout folder. it will create a 'build' folder in
the checkout folder.
Then you have to do a chekout of ws-site/targets/axis/cpp from cvs and
copy the relavant files built by forrest from build folder to target
checkout folder.
Then commit the targets.

I have tried this on Linux and it seems to work.
I am not a regular user of forrest, hence I would like others to
comment on my explanation above (may be Rangika can validate)

Thanks,
Samisa...
