can POI check a checkbox in a xls file?

Hi all,

I need to generate a xls file according to a model. In the model there are 
checkbox that i need (or not) to check. Can Poi handle it or not? I don't see 
how to reach the checkbox since it is not in a cell so any help would be 
appreciated.
